Post Medieval Gem Inlaid Shoe Buckle Collection

19TH CENTURY A.D.

1 - 2 1/8 in. (97 grams total, 27-54 mm).

Comprising: a pair of rectangular buckles with frames inlaid with cut and polished stones; a pair of domed elliptical buckles retaining their bars, inlaid with two rows of cut and polished stones and an engraved central border; a large domed rectangular buckle set with cut and polished stones; an oblong buckle also inlaid with cut and polished stone; articulate prongs and spindles; the stones are likely paste. [6]

Acquired 1960s-1990s.
Late Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister.
