Ex Hargesheimer Auctions, Dusseldorf, Germany. From an important collection of icons. Accompanied by an academic report by Dr Raffaele D’Amato. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate number no.12342-224610.

The scene is depicted in traditional composition, Christ standing opposite the figure of Lazarus in his sarcophagus. Three groups of figures bearing witness to the miracle. At Christ's feet are the prostrate figures of Mary and Martha. Behind him are the Apostles, the people of Bethany and Jerusalem, watching while servants are delivering Lazarus from his bands.

Comprising: bifacial axe-blade pendant; bifacial disc pendant with equal-arm cross and king with orb and sceptre, inset glass cabochons to both faces. 123 grams total, 44-80 mm



Acquired on the European art market since the early 2000s. From the private Northern Ireland collection of R.M.

With stepped shoulders and hatched detailing; rectangular bezel with spur to each corner set with an iridescent glass square. 4.35 grams, 23.07 mm overall, 17.65 mm internal diameter (approximate size British N 1/2, USA 6 3/4, Europe 14.35, Japan 13)
