16TH-17TH CENTURY A.D.

1 3/4 in. (15.2 grams, 46 mm).

A ring dial with two bands open to one side at the centre; the outer surface engraved with measurement points and letters along the open mid section; to the inside, a series of incised lines and numbers for the hours of the day. [No Reserve]

    This refined bust captures the timeless elegance of ancient iconography: delicate profile turned to the left, hair held by a chignon and diadem allowing the locks to escape and forming braids. The cameo is Italian and dates to the 16th century, the ring is 18th century.
