Renaissance Gold Ring with Diamond Crystal

Slender hoop with raised shoulders leaves displaying leaves and volutes, quatrefoil bezel with stepped edges and set with a point-cut diamond crystal. 4.19 grams, 27.25 mm overall, 17.52 mm internal diameter (approximate size British O, USA 7, Europe 14.98, Japan 14)

This type ring seems to have been very popular in Renaissance Europe during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Numerous parallels and portraits give evidence for this fashion. Similar ring types are in the National Museum of Bargello, Firenze, and Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
