Persia. Alexandrine Empire, Mazakes, Satrap of Mesopotamia AR Tetradrachm. Circa 331-323/2 BC. Imitating Athens.
Head of Athena to right, wearing disc earring, and crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves / Owl standing to right, head facing the viewer, olive sprig and crescent moon in upper left field, MZDK (in Aramaic) to right; all within incuse square. Le Rider, Alexander, pp. 214-9; Van Alfen, Owls, Group V, 99. Near Very Fine. Very rare Group V issue.(16.23gr, 23mm, 11h.).
