Persia. Achaemenid Empire, Time of Xerxes I to Darius II Fourrée Siglos. Circa 485-420 BC.

Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding transverse spear and bow / Oblong incuse punch. For prototype cf. Carradice Type IIIb, Groups A/B (pl. XII). Good Fine.(4.63gr, 15mm, 12h.).

From the collection of a gentleman, acquired on the London art market in the 1990s.
