Persia. Achaemenid Empire, Time of Xerxes I to Darius II AR Siglos. Circa 486-420 BC.

Lydo-Milesian standard. Sardes mint. Type IIIb (early). Persian king or hero, wearing kidaris and kandys, quiver over shoulder, in kneeling-running stance to right, holding transverse spear with right hand and bow with left; countermark: 121 / Oblong incuse punch. Carradice Type IIIb; BMC Arabia pl. XXV, 9. Near Very Fine.(5.48gr, 15mm.).
