    One of the terracotta heads belongs to a votive statue, which by its shape seems to belong to Demeter or to the priestess of the Mother Goddess venerated in the Sanctuary of Arsos (Cyprus). The other one, also votive, showing a high headgear, represents most probably a Phoenician divinity, or a Levantine head of a priest.

    Private London collection, 1980s. Private collection, acquired on the British art market in 1993. This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by search certificate number no.13185-249263.

    The earrings belong to the hoop-type earrings, in which animal and human heads form the terminal as small miniature sculptures modelled in the round. The heads were attached to collars made from a single piece of gold. The group is characterised by lion heads.

    Daunian pottery is characterised by unique shapes and decorative motifs, which include geometric patterns, plant and animal motifs, and human figures. The pottery is typically made from a coarse clay, and it is decorated with black or dark brown slip, a type of liquid clay that is applied to the surface of the pottery before firing.
