EGYPTIAN PAIR OF GLASS EYE INLAYS

Circa 1549–1292 BC, 18th Dynasty. A set of glass eye inlays comprising white lentoid panels with black pupils and blue surrounds, and separate blue brow arches. [4]
PROVENANCE:
UK private collection, acquired in the 1950's.
FOOTNOTES:
The Egyptians attached great importance to the eye, regarding it as not a mere passive organ of sight but as an agent of protection, royal power and good health.
