A framed portrait on fabric depicting Tipu Sultan (20 November 1750 - 4 May 1799) in a fine robe, seated on a couch with string of pearls to the chest and sword on a baldric; signed Mahnder Singh, after the portrait of Tipu Sultan once owned by Richard Colley Wellsley, now in the British Library.
PROVENANCE:
Acquired on the London art market in the early 1990s.
