Ordos Gilt Bronze Belt Buckle with Gryphons
4TH-3RD CENTURY B.C.
4 1/4 in. (375 grams total, plate: 10.9 cm).
Rectangular plaque with concentric beaded borders, field with two addorsed gryphons each with wings folded and legs bent beneath the body; attachment loops to reverse; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
Ex Shinya Tagava, Honcho, Tokyo, Japan, before 1986.
