Near Eastern Luristan Bronze Sceptre Finial

BRONZE AGE, 1250-650 BC

9 1/4" (352 grams, 23.5 cm including stand).

A cast sceptre finial comprising a piriform bulb and tubular sleeve surmounted by a bifacial female figure with zoomorphic detailing; supplied with a custom-made stand.

Provenance

Ex Midlands collection; formerly with a Surrey gentleman; acquired on the English art market prior to 1980.
