ProvenanceSpecialised collection of cuneiform texts, the property of a London gentleman and housed in London before 1992.
Thence by descent to family members.
Examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
This small collection is exceptional for the variety of types, including some very rare and well preserved examples.

Western Asiatic Gold Pendant with Turquoise

Comprising a turquoise-coloured glass bead, encased inside a gold fitting with a suspension loop. 0.17 grams, 8.30 mm
From a late Japanese specialist collector, 1970-2000s.
A great number of turquoise jewellery was employed by the Kushans, as shown by the marvellous finds of Tillya Tepe. In grave I the remains of a noblewoman show complex garment decoration, making use of bracteates, including triangles of gold with a granulated finish, double lozenges in turquoise, lapis lazuli and pyrites, and a square bracteate with turquoise inlaid work.
