A hawking ring comprising a shield-shaped plate bearing an engraved coat of arms with three hews and a chevron, the flat-section band inscribed Chadwell:of:Nort.

Private collection, Nottinghamshire, UK; acquired late 1980's-early 1990's.
FOOTNOTES:
The arms may be those associated with the London Company of Blacksmiths and Spurriers (Sable, a chevron or between three hammers argent handled of the second) established in 1579 AD, or possibly with the Smiths' Company of Exeter. The abbreviation "Nort." typically refers to the town of Northampton and 'Chadwell' is the name of a mineral spring in the region of Warmington, Northamptonshire.
