Medieval Painted Wooden Figure
CIRCA 15TH CENTURY A.D.
5 3/4 in. (48 grams, 14.8 cm).
Carved in a form of a standing male wearing a short tunic, one leg slightly bent, detachable arms absent, drilled at the back; remains of black, white and cream pigment; one foot chipped. [No Reserve]
Provenance
From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.

Medieval Pope Clement III Lead Papal Bulla
1187-1191 A.D.Sold for (Inc. bp): £195
The obverse depicting the busts of St Peter and St Paul each within an inverted pear-shaped compartment defined by pellets; cross pattee supported on a staff between the busts and at the top of the bulla in the centre remains of the letters 'SPASPE', abbreviations for St Paul and St Peter; reverse inscribed over three lines 'CLE/MENS/PP.III.', with an omega above the letters 'PP'; both obverse and reverse faces with a pelletted perimeter. 34 grams, 37 mm
