Medieval Limestone 'The Wind' Gargoyle
14TH-15TH CENTURY A.D.
11 1/4 in. (10.1 kg total, 28.5 cm high including stand).
Carved in the half-round male mask with swollen cheeks, narrow eyes and pursed mouth in the act of exhaling; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
Acquired between the 1970s and 1980s.
From the private collection of John Watson, Cambridge, UK.
