Medieval Limestone 'Jester' Gargoyle

14TH-15TH CENTURY A.D.

11 1/2 in. (4.68 kg total, 29 cm high including stand).

Discoid in profile, carved in the half-round male mask with narrow eyes, curved mouth and prominent nose; mounted on a custom-made stand.

Provenance

Acquired between the 1970s and 1980s.
From the private collection of John Watson, Cambridge, UK.
