Medieval Gold Saint Catherine Iconographic Finger Ring

CIRCA 15TH CENTURY AD

3/4" (Gold, 1.90 grams, 18.51 mm (approximate size British K, USA 5 1/4, Europe 9.95, Japan 9)).

A delicate gold finger ring with D-section hoop and decorative lancet panels to the shoulders and elliptical bezel; the shoulders bearing the text 'vere velim' in blackletter script; the bezel with motif of robed and crowned female figure with a wheel in her left hand; English workmanship.

Provenance

From an old Yorkshire collection; acquired in the 1960's.
