Medieval Gilt Bronze Knight's Heraldic Horse Harness Pendant

13TH-14TH CENTURY A.D.

1 5/8 in. (11.1 grams, 41 mm).

Heater-shield shaped with integral suspension loop, a stylised lion facing left in white enamel against remains of a gilt field.

Acquired early 1990s.

    A variety of 14th and 15th century forms of knives are represented here including several with stepped backs. In the 14th century the blades of the knives became to be longer and thinner and frequently marked.
