Medieval Bronze Yorkist Sun Horse Harness Mount

CIRCA 15TH CENTURY A.D.

2 1/2 in. (26.7 grams, 63 mm).

Formed as eight longer radiating arms with interstitial rays, central incuse pellet, attachment lugs to rear of the longer arms. [No Reserve]

Provenance

Found Maltby, near Doncaster, UK.
Property of a Nottinghamshire gentleman.

    Fire steels were used to generate a spark from a 'strike-a-light' (a piece of flint or pyrite). The spark was directed into a tinder box containing a dry, flammable material such as charred linen until a flame was kindled.
