Medieval Bronze Seal Matrix with Standing Figures
13TH-14TH CENTURY A.D.
1 1/8 in. (15.2 grams, 31 mm).
The oval die bearing a standing female figure next to a tree or shrub, a child(?) standing next to her, surrounding Latin legend 'SIGIL [...]GILE (or possibly SVLE) [...]'; hexagonal stem with collars and trefoil loop. [No Reserve]

Square-shaped with integral suspension loop; moulded central design of three flowers springing from an oval base, annulet to each corner, field split in half vertically and enamelled azure (left field) and gules (right field); extensive remains of gilding to front and reverse. 2.77 grams, 22 mm
Acquired on the UK market, 1990s. Property of a retired academic.
Similar to an example from Sparham, Norfolk, published in Ashley (2002: p9, number 32), where the device is described as a "three limbed tree", but the colour scheme appears identical. -

Comprising mounts of various types, including examples retaining gilding: a 13th-15th century Lombardic letter M, for 'Maria'; a 16th-17th century lozenge displaying letter A with floral dashes below; numerous stylised flower-shaped mounts and flower decorated mounts; various shell-shaped mounts, possibly associated with pilgrimage; a squashed 'hoop' with floral piercings to one face; a square plaque displaying a bird amongst flowering tendrils. 70 grams total, 11-47 mm
