(Bronze, 33 grams, 47 mm.).
Circa 14th-15th century AD. A cast bronze vesica-shaped seal matrix with central panel depicting a facing bust within a lancet arch with spires, above an armorial shield with two lions passant and a quarter with a lion rampant within a tressy border; around the border the inscription S' G.MATI.DEO/DE SABOLIO*; perforated suspension lug to the reverse; supplied with an impression of the seal.
PROVENANCE:
Private collection, Suffolk, UK; acquired in the 1990's. Found on the Isle of Wight and recorded with the PAS in 2007 under reference IOW-679398.
