CHINESE MASSIVE BRONZE P'U SHOU DOOR FITTING
WARRING STATES, 5TH CENTURY BC
27" (8 kg, 69 cm).

A large cast door fitting in three parts comprising: an openwork D-shaped monster mask with serpentine beast-heads to the upper edge modelled in the round and half-round; a C-shaped hollow-cast staple; a cast ring with scrolled tendril decoration and two beast-heads modelled in the half-round; mounted on a custom-made stand.

PROVENANCE:
Acquired on the London art market in the late 1990s.
