Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar AE 26mm of Peltae, Phrygia. Struck circa AD 147-161.

Μ ΑΥΡΗΛΙ ΟΥΗΡΟϹ ΚΑΙϹ, bare-headed and draped bust with short beard to right / ΠΕΛΤΗΝΩΝ ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ, distyle temple enclosing statue of Ephesia Artemis standing facing, wearing kalathos, and having supports; two stags flanking; in pediment, globe. RPC IV.2 Online 2144; BMC 23; Imhoof-Blumer KM, p. 284, 8. Near Very Fine. Very rare; only three specimens cited by RPC Online and none on CoinArchives.(12.54gr, 26mm, 12h.).

    [...] ΝΕΡΟΥΑϹ [...], laureate head to right / [ΔΙΑ ΠΑΝΔΗΜΟΝ ϹΥΝΝΑΔΕΙϹ?], Zeus Pandemos seated to left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, holding long sceptre in his left hand and, in his right, Nike holding wreath. Cf. RPC III 2618. 9.37gr, 23mm, 11h.

    Zeus Pandemos was the chief god of Synnada, and his epithet ΠΑΝΔΗΜΟΣ means ''of all the people'' (see the word 'pandemic'), an indication of a form of Zeus associated with the community and popular support.
