Examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology, in the late 1980s and 1990s. The collection is exceptional for the variety of types, including some very rare and well preserved examples.) -
Western Asiatic Socketted Spearhead

With a pointed biconvex blade of thick rhomboid section and strong midrib. 240 grams, 15.5 cm
Acquired 1980-2015. Ex Abelita family collection.
This spearhead is classified as subtype L 5.B.c of the mid-length spearheads by Gernez. This typology of spears is essentially known from the East Arabian Peninsula (Jebel Hafit, Samad al Shan). Various spearheads were found in the temple area at Barbar (Bahrain). One specimen was also found in Tepe Hissar (Tepe Hissar IIIC period).
