4 3/8 x 3 3/8 in. (296 grams, 11 x 8.5 cm).
Codex of vellum pages bound within leather covers with securing straps; each page with a block of ten lines of Coptic black-ink text in Greek letters with red highlighting; probably from Egypt. [No Reserve]

The design reflects the visions of St Eustace (2nd century) and Saint Hubert (8th century), who saw a stag with cross between antlers whilst hunting. -

From the Sullivan family collection, UK; acquired since 2003.
The device is associated with several English families but most prominently with members of the Dovedale family (with various spellings) which appears to have originated in Yorkshire or Cheshire from the 12th century AD.
