9TH-11TH CENTURY A.D.
3 in. (70 grams, 77 mm wide).
Featuring coiled terminals, raised medial rib and free-running pin; the coiled pin head and the body with stamped and incised geometric motifs. [No Reserve]

In the Malmsmyr hoard five moulded silver armlets were found with similar decoration: deep furrows in zig-zag pattern, perforated dots and a striped central trim. The inner sides are smooth, but four of the armlets have a stamp decoration of dots in a cross shape; on two armlets this is in combination with diamond shapes. -

Such Islamic coins were traded across the Viking world and have been discovered as grave goods or in hoards (as coins and as jewellery items) in Scandinavia and the Baltic area. -
