    A mammiform vessel with everted rim, painted polychrome frieze of a crouching ibex and a pecking bird with pellet-and-circles to the field. 98.60 grams, 82 mm

    Fine condition.

    From the property of a London gentleman; previously in the private collection of the late David Gold, formed 1970s. From the private collection of John Meredith, acquired since the 1990s; thence by descent.

    David Gold amassed a sizable collection of Indus Valley pottery, both vessels and figurative, during his retirement. A plaque to David and his brother was unveiled by Westminster Council above 43 Carnaby Street, commemorating their business that made Carnaby Street synonymous with fashion in the 1960s.
