Large Greek Geometric Bronze Spiral Fibula
7TH-6TH CENTURY B.C.
6 1/2 in. (159 grams, 16.5 cm).
Formed from a single filament rolled into two 'spectacle' discs; one of the spirals terminating in a long pin, the other in a hook serving as the catchplate; openwork figure-of-eight at the centre; pin present but detached.

Sir Clinton Charles Donald Cory was a lifelong connoisseur with a deep appreciation for objets d’art and antiquities, particularly Attic pottery and numismatics. He took great pleasure in meticulously cataloguing and archiving his collection. This type of bracelet still reflects the old Celtic production technique of La Tène period, where the bracelets were formed by pressing two extremities to form a single body, giving the bracelet a brownish colour. -
