Large Fossil Theropod Dinosaur Egg

CRETACEOUS PERIOD, 145-65 MILLION YEARS B.P.

17 3/4 in. (11.4 kg, 45 cm).

An elongated egg in matrix retaining some evidence of leathery surface, probably Macroelongatoolithus xixiaensis, a giant form of Oviraptor.

Previously from a Hong Kong collection.
Ex property of a London, UK, gentleman.

Footnotes

Macroelongatoolithus is an extinct genus of dinosaurs that laid particularly large eggs that could have been up to 60cm long.
