Large Bronze Age Decorated Leech Brooch

10TH-8TH CENTURY B.C.

3 1/4 in. (128 grams, 84 mm).

A 'sanguisuga' (leech) fibula with hollow, vertically ribbed bow; integral coiled spring and ellipsoid catchplate; substantial pin. [No Reserve]

Provenance

From the private collection of a London gentleman, from his grandfather's collection formed before the early 1970s.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D’Amato.
