Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III AR Drachm. Struck under Menander, circa 324/3 BC. Sardes mint.
Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied beneath chin / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated to left on backless throne, legs spread, his feet resting on low foot rest, holding long sceptre in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing to right with closed wings; monogram of EY in left field, rose beneath throne. Price 2553; ADM I Series IX. Good Very Fine. Lustrous metal.(4.28gr, 16mm, 12h.).
