King James II Period Iron Lance Head

LATE 17TH CENTURY A.D.

11 1/4 in. (162 grams, 28.5 cm).

Comprising a flat-section leaf-shaped blade with a short round-section neck, a square-section baluster with hatched surfaces, and a narrow flared socket with remains of original wooden shaft. [No Reserve]

    With a broad, lentoid-section flat blade, rounded tip, sloping sides, well marked shoulders with wide but short tang. 713 grams, 43.5 cm

    The sword finds similarity with a one from the Royal Cemetery of Ur. This is the most primitive form of dagger, consisting of a simple, pointed blade having slightly convex outline shoulders sloping to a short tang which has no rivets, and was probably hafted to wood with bitumen.

    Mixed group of tanged arrowheads, nine with barbed shoulders, two with lanceolate heads, three with triangular heads, one spiked and one with a pyramidal head. 159 grams total, 4.2-10.3 cm

    The majority of the arrowheads belong to type IV of the Khorasani classification. They resemble a stylised flying bird, such as a swallow.
