Indus Valley Painted Terracotta Bowl with Rings

2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.

5 1/4 in. (424 grams, 13.5 cm).

With carinated body, everted rim, applied loops beneath the rim and free-running rings; painted detailing including foliage to the rim, hatched panels to the shoulders. [No Reserve]

Provenance

Property of a London gentleman; from his father's collection formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
From the private collection of John Meredith, acquired since the 1990s; thence by descent.
This lot is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D'Amato.
