Indus Valley Clay Fertility Idol
3RD-2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
8 in. (561 grams, 20 cm).
Bell-shaped in overall form, right arm and hand wrapped around midriff under breasts, left arm and hand raised to face, fingers indicated by shallow incised lines, applied eyes, mouth, chin and other features, pinched nose, wearing a long garment flared at base and a headdress; her appearance is one of awe or contemplation; pierced through the top of head. [No Reserve]

Property of a Middlesex collector; acquired on the London art market before 2000; formerly in an old English collection.
