Indian Painted Gilt Wooden Doors with Musicians
20TH CENTURY A.D.
15 x 14 1/8 in. (1.31 kg, 38.2 x 36 cm).
Wooden rectangular frame with two door panels, hinged and with staples and a hasp; black painted surface with gilt edging; floral motifs to frame; each door with a painted arch, standing female figure in profile and dog beneath; the left figure holding a sitar and the other a mridangam double-ended drum. [No Reserve]

From the private collection of John Meredith, acquired since the 1990s; thence by descent.
