Indian Decorated Gilt Copper Vase
19TH CENTURY A.D.
7 1/4 in. (954 grams, 18.5 cm wide).
With piriform profile and broad base, raised neck with turned rim; band of silver-coloured tendrils on a pounced field to the neck; guilloche to the shoulder above a copper-coloured field with serpent designs between hatched arabesque panels with figural scenes: animals round a tree; males taking an al fresco meal; robed males with goblets; animals surrounding a robed male. [No Reserve]

Indian Brass Shiva Figurine

Shiva as Lord of Dance (Nataraja): the upper left hand holding agni (the fire that will destroy the universe), the lower right hand making abhayamudra (the gesture that allays fear), the dwarf like figure being trampled by his right foot representing apasmara purusha (illusion, which leads mankind astray) and the raised left foot, signifying refuge for the troubled soul. 523 grams, 15.5 cm high
