A ceramic beast modelled standing, with a pig-like body and bestial head, paws and claws, its mouth ajar as it snuffles at the ground, feathered tail dangling between its hindlegs, wing-like plumes reaching from its shoulders to its rump, stag-like antlers reaching from its head along its neck; extensive remains of polychrome pigmentation. 15 1/2 in. (18.1 kg, 39.5 cm high).
PROVENANCE:
From an important collection of Chinese art formed in the 1980-1990’s by a family living in Hong Kong.
Accompanied by a positive original thermoluminescence analysis report no.CJ152522022 from Laboratory Kotalla.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate no.11355-192730.
