Hoi An Shipwreck Glazed Polychrome Dish Pair

8 3/4 in. (1.25 kg total, 22.2-22.3 cm).
Both with painted petals to the outer faces, painted bichrome design of vegetal motifs surrounding a Chinese character fu (meaning fortune or good luck) to the inside. [2, No Reserve]

In the mid 15th century a freighting junk loaded with fine Vietnamese pottery sank in an area of the South China Sea called the 'Dragon’s Embrace.' This vessel is part of the shipwreck cargo recovered off the coast of Vietnam at Hoi An. The ceramics themselves were probably made in the area of Chu Dau.
