HENRY I - THETFORD/ASCHETIL - TYPE XII PENNY
(1.10 grams.).

Circa 1119 AD. Smaller profile. Obv: profile bust with rosette in front and +HENRICV[ ] legend. Rev: cross with annulet and pellet in angles with +ASCH[ ]LONT[ ] legend for the moneyer Aschetil at Thetford mint. The edge officially snicked at 5 o'clock. About as struck with surface crack to reverse, some flatness to legends, a small edge chip at the snick position and a good bust. Extremely rare and the first recorded coin of this type for Thetford.
