Greek Decorated Cuirass
3RD CENTURY BC
21 1/2" (3.7 kg, 55cm including stand).
An iron cuirass with band of overlapping offset plates to the collar and shoulders, additional bands to the pectorals and in an arc across the thorax; mounted on a custom-made stand.
Provenance
Previously the property of a Swiss dealer, Geneva, Switzerland, January 1980. Accompanied by metallurgic analytical report number 115121/562, written by Metallurgist Dr. Brian Gilmour of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, University of Oxford.
