Greek Daunian Painted Double Vessel

7TH-5TH CENTURY BC

11" (1.2 kg, 28 cm).

A spectacular double vessel comprising two bulbous vessels with flared rims and flat-section strap handle between; the body of each decorated with bands of rosettes, vinescroll, waves and geometric designs with fish in the lower panels, occasional red spots; crescent designs and pellets to the inner faces of the rims, palmette designs to the handle.

Provenance

From the estate of a late North Country collector, acquired over a 30 year period from the early 1970s.
