Greek Bronze Bow Brooch
6TH-4TH CENTURY B.C.
3 3/8 in. (25.5 grams, 87 mm).
Single-piece fibula comprising a thick bow with integral coiled spring to one end developing to a sturdy pin; to the other end, a U-section lobed catchplate on a single-coil spring; with detailing to the outer face of the catch.
Provenance
Acquired on the London art market in the late 1980s-1990s.
From the family collection of an East London, UK, gentleman.

The statue was probably a cult offering and presents an archaic Etruscan hairstyle, being part of the Italic statuettes produced as votive offering to the temples or for private lararia. His warrior status can be confirmed by his boots, typical of Etruscan and Latin warriors of archaic times. -
