GREEK APULIAN FIGURAL SKYPHOS
4TH CENTURY BC
14" (2 kg, 36 cm).

A ceramic red figure ware skyphos with everted rim and two loop handles; the body painted with a wave pattern motif below, ovolo motif beneath the rim; beneath the handles, palmette motifs; Side A - an advancing female in loose chiton with a branch in the right hand, stephane to the hair and mirror in the left; Side B - the bust of a lady of fashion with stephane and earrings.

PROVENANCE:
From the estate of a North Country collector, acquired over a 30 year period from the early 1970s.
