Greek Apulian Figural Bell Krater

11 1/2" (2 kg, 29 cm).
A large ceramic red figure bell krater with pedestal foot and two round-section handles, rolled; decorated with a band of geometric ornament, palmettes beneath the handles; two figural scenes to the sides: Side A - a naked male with staff in the crook of his left arm, seated with a platter in his right hand, garland in his hair facing a standing female in loose peplos with floral garland in her left hand, staff in her right hand; Side B - two standing males facing each other, togate with short hair, one with a short staff.
Provenance
From the estate of a North Country collector, acquired over a 30 year period from the early 1970s.
