An expressive bust of a mature nobleman with curly hair gracefully framing his face, the sides falling on the shoulders of the pleated toga, furrowed forehead and prominent nasolabial folds; mounted on custom-made stand.
PROVENANCE:
Property of an South Oxfordshire, UK collector; acquired from Parthenon Gallery in 2011; previously with C.J. Martin; ex Delorme & Collin Du Bocage, 13 May 2011, lot 171; ex French collection; formerly in a 1970s British collection; accompanied by a copy of the relevant Delorme & Collin Du Bocage catalogue page and Parthenon Gallery invoice and an academic report by Dr. Raffaele D’Amato; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.160880-10057.
