ROMAN GOLD OPENWORK FINGER RING WITH FEMALE MASK INTAGLIO
1ST-2ND CENTURY AD.
1 1/4" (4.95 grams, 29 mm overall, 20.37 mm internal diameter (approximate size British V, USA 10 3/4, Europe 23.99, Japan 23)).

A plain bipartite hoop with granules to the shoulders; the bezel an elliptical openwork gold panel with central collet containing a milky white steatite intaglio of a female face with notched surround.

PROVENANCE:
Ex Hiller collection; acquired on the London art market in the 1950s.
