Early 7th century AD. A gold belt buckle comprising a hinged loop and thick flared tongue with square basal plate bearing an engraved cross pattee; the openwork plate formed with addorsed bird-heads connected to a vertical bar ornamented with zigzag motifs, the heads with punched annulets extending to a disc finial with engraved cruciform monogram; on the reverse, two pierced attachment lugs.
