BYZANTINE GOLD AND GARNET PENDANT CROSS
(Gold with garnet, 3.53 grams, 39.49 mm.).

Circa 5th-8th century AD. A cruciform pendant formed from four tubular gold cones ending in hemispherical terminals with apical granulation; the central feature a discoid garnet set en cabochon; on the upper arm a suspension loop with filigree bands on the edges.
