Sino-Tibetan Gilt Vajravarahi Figure

19th-20th century AD

A hollow-formed gilt bronze figure (Vajravarahi?) on a lotus-flower dais with the pelt of a stag spread beneath him, scaphoid bowl in the right hand, left hand raised in the mudra of reassurance. 1.2 kg, 15cm (6"). Fine condition.

From a collection of Buddhist art, London, UK; formed since 1990.
